Complete Layens Queen-Rearing Set – 30 Cups

Ref: SET_017
16.50 €

Complete Layens queen-rearing frame, supplied with Nicot® supports, cell cup holders and cell cups already assembled, allowing the beekeeper to begin work in the apiary without purchasing each component separately.

This set is designed for beekeepers working with Layens hives who require a practical and well-organised cell bar frame, ready for grafting larvae, starting queen cells and managing the production of new queens.

The frame includes three removable cell bars, each capable of holding 10 complete assemblies consisting of a support, cell cup holder and cell cup. It therefore provides a total working capacity of up to 30 queen-rearing cell cups.

Each bar can be removed separately, making grafting, queen cell inspection and handling during the different stages of queen rearing easier. The frame also includes a built-in 0.5-litre top feeder, which can be used to provide feed to the colony during queen rearing.

Set contents:

  • SUCRIA_013 – Layens queen-rearing frame with three removable cell bars and built-in feeder: 1 unit.
  • SUCRIA_014A – Nicot® support for fixing the cell cup holder to the wooden bar: 30 units.
  • SUCRIA_015 – Nicot® cell cup holder that clips onto the support: 30 units.
  • SUCRIA_016 – Nicot® cell cup for receiving the selected larva during grafting: 30 units.

How the set works:

  • The Nicot® support is fixed to the wooden cell bar.
  • The cell cup holder clips directly onto the support.
  • The grafting cell cup is inserted into the cell cup holder.
  • The selected larva is transferred into the cell cup using a grafting tool.
  • The frame is then placed in a starter or finisher colony, depending on the queen-rearing method being used.

Advantages for the beekeeper:

  • Complete set, assembled and ready to use.
  • Capacity for working with up to 30 queen cells.
  • Three removable cell bars for easier handling.
  • Neat and organised distribution of the cell cups inside the hive.
  • Removable and reusable Nicot® components.
  • Built-in feeder to support the colony during queen rearing.
  • Suitable for hobby beekeepers, queen breeders and professional beekeeping operations.

The removable bars keep the queen cells separated and well organised, making them easier to monitor during acceptance, feeding and capping. Once the process is complete, the cell cup holders and cell cups can be removed for cleaning, replacement or reuse.

Round protective cages or Nicot® roller cages can also be fitted over the queen cells while retaining all three rows of cell bars. Protective cages are not included in this set.

Recommendations for use:

  • Select young larvae, preferably less than 24 hours old.
  • Keep the cell cup holders and cell cups clean before each use.
  • Check that every cell cup is correctly fitted into its holder.
  • Place the frame in a strong colony that has been properly prepared for queen rearing.
  • Avoid impacts or sudden movements when handling and transferring queen cells.
  • Check the feed level in the built-in feeder regularly.
