Ref: TAAV_007
Consult € (IVA incl)

Hive protection module made of pine wood with two filters to prevent the Asian wasp from entering the hive.
It is designed so that the hive is not blocked by the intimidation of the wasp and that the bees can enter and exit the hive fluidly without being detected in time by the Asian wasp.
The bees can also introduce pollen into the hive fluidly through the internal filter.

Instalation date:
  • June-July: Optimal installation, ideal installation date.
  • August-September: Urgent installation, hive block watering.
  • October-November: Late installation, hive blocked, the module will only work as a protector.

It is compatible with 10-frame Langstroth and 10-frame Dadant hives (also 10-frame Langstroth and Dadant transhumance hives.

Note: October-November: Late installation, if the hive is already blocked, the module will only function as a protector and will not perform the same function as in June-July.

Hive Protector Module Improvements in 2023:

Interior filter (bottom row):
This new model of Hive Protector has a calibrated filter, in which only the worker bees and the queen bee can pass through the bottom row.
By improving the calibration of the bottom row of the filter, the entry of the Asian wasp (Vespa velutina nigrithorax) is prevented.

Lateral exit of drones:
To preserve the natural cycle of the hive, the lateral entrance/exit has been enabled for the drones, so that during the mating season the lateral exits can be left open.
In this way, drones of all sizes will be able to enter and exit freely during the mating season.
The side entrances/exits for the drones can be opened and closed using an opening and closing mechanism.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
1) Install the Hive Protective Modules starting in mid-June, for the best mating development of the hive during the spring.

2) During the time of Asian wasp (Vespa velutina nigrithorax) attack, the side entrances/exits for drones must be closed.

3) If during the months of July and August there were any drones left in the hive, the beekeeper would have to regulate the opening of the entrances/exits for drones to a minimum, there being a risk of the Asian wasp entering the hive if the doors were left open. Drone inputs/outputs. In these cases, constant supervision by the beekeeper is recommended for hive management in terms of opening and closing the side exits for drones.
