Velutina STOP IT Barrier protective module.

Ref: TAAV_013
16.50 €

The STOP IT is a transparent barrier of the velutina module type, which is an extension of the hive or nucleus, since it is mounted at the entrance of the hive.
The innovation is that it is made of plastic and is very light, easy to transport to the apiary and install with simple scissors and a stapler and it allows to reduce the stress of the bees when they suffer the attacks of their different predators, including the velutina wasp.

STOP IT does not prevent the velutina wasps from killing the bees, but it helps the bees to continue working collecting and introducing nectar and water into the hive, that is, they can pre-chore the exit and entrance while being protected by the barrier.
It is also worth mentioning that the level of predation is much less strong in the presence of the Stop it, since it offers the bees different possibilities of acting at the entrance or exit according to the level of danger for them since they are protected behind the barrier.

Mode of Action.
Bees have free access to the hive and can freely leave the hive and escape through the various holes in Stop it. This keeps the yellow jacket and other predators at a distance, unable to fly through the oval holes that are too narrow for their size.
Bees need an adaptation period, just like setting up a pollen trap, it takes one or two days to adapt.
It is highly recommended to set it up before periods of severe stress to reduce the adaptation time and allow them to fully adapt to this new environment. The better they know it, the better they can organise their defence.
Wasps cannot fly in, they may land and walk in. If bees are already adapted to Stop it, they can better organise their defence.
Suitable for all types of hives and nuclei. Supplied individually disassembled, ready to assemble.

Summary of features:
  • Material: Plastic.
  • Function: Spot velutina protector.
  • Valid for all types of hives and nuclei.

Note: This STOP IT module is designed to help the hive against specific pressures from the Asian hornet. It does not eliminate the hornet or prevent it from preying on bees in flight, but it helps the bees to defend themselves and to better organize their entrances and exits to the hive.
