Selective Korean trap for Vespa velutina and Vespa orientalis , designed to protect the apiary from predatory wasp pressure during the activity season.
This model offers a more stable and professional solution than improvised bottle traps, as it maintains its effectiveness better over time, allows working with a larger volume of attractant, and is designed for continuous use in apiaries.
Its design is geared towards more selective trapping , reducing accidental captures of non-target insects and helping to decrease the stress suffered by colonies when the Asian hornet or the orientalis continuously patrol the entrance.
It is a particularly interesting trap for beekeepers who need a practical, reusable tool that is easy to place around the hives during times of predator pressure.
- Selective design intended for the capture of Vespa velutina and Vespa orientalis.
- Longer working life than simple bottle traps.
- Suitable for use in apiaries , helping to reduce pressure on the bees.
- Modular structure , easy to assemble, check and empty.
- Large bait capacity , suitable for maintaining attraction for a longer time.
- Durable plastic material , suitable for outdoor use.
- Reusable and easy to maintain.
For best results, it is recommended to place the attractant in areas where wasps travel around the apiary and to periodically check the condition of the attractant and the number of wasps captured. In beekeeping, location and regular monitoring are key to achieving good results.
It is advisable to use it within a strategy for protecting the apiary, always prioritizing the most selective trapping possible and avoiding methods that may harm other beneficial insects.
How to use:
- Open the trap by separating the top part.
- Pour the specific attractant into the base (approx. 300–500 ml).
- If desired, add a small amount of water to improve the diffusion of the scent.
- Assemble the trap, ensuring the closure between the pieces is correct.
- Hang it using the hook in areas where wasps pass through (around the apiary or activity points).
- Place at an approximate height of 1–1.5 meters to facilitate inspection.
- Periodically check the fluid level and catches.
- Empty, clean and renew the attractant as needed.
For best results, use specific attractants and maintain regular monitoring of the traps throughout the campaign.
