Description

The Lyson patented swarm monitor makes it easier to control swarming in hives. After years of observation and thanks to the idea of ??a collaborating beekeeper, a unique product has been created.

How it works

The method of operation is simple. When the bees enter a swarming stage and wish to leave the hive, they head toward the exit where the beekeeper's beekeeper is installed. The pressure of the bees on the transparent cover eventually causes it to slide, allowing the bees to exit, which is a clear sign to the beekeeper that swarming has occurred.

This way, there is no need to open or look inside the hive, avoiding unnecessarily disturbing the bees.

Construction and design

A transparent cap tops a curved tube at the appropriate angle. During swarming, the transparent cover attracts bees toward the light; the built-up pressure eventually expels it. When the transparent cap separates from the assembly, the beekeeper knows the hive has swarmed.

It's essential that the tube's curvature be correct. The color of the tube also plays a role: it shouldn't be black ; it must be a light enough shade so that, during swarming, the bees will be drawn toward the mouth of the tube. The length and angle of the tube also allow the bees to see outside the hive.
