Tes or Kit of diagnosis of field for European foulbrood, it is a tool with enough reliability that allows to carry out the test for the Europera foulbrood (EFB) in honey bee larvae and obtain the results almost immediately.
It is fast and easy to use and without the need for laboratory analysis, in this way the beekeeper can make quick decisions to avoid its spread.
European foulbrood (Melissococcus pluton) is a disease that affects the larvae of open workers, the queen and the males, generally in times of pollen deficiency or after agricultural chemical treatment.
Very often, European foulbrood is not the cause of bee colony death, but may be responsible for a drop in production or population.
Generally, the presence rich in pollen and a supplement of protein pastes make it possible to neutralize the European foulbrood.
The detection kit includes various tools (spatula, vial, pipette and test plate) to perform a brood analysis.

Symptoms of European foulbrood:
  • Dry and dull larvae.
  • Larvae in atypical positions.
  • Mosaic breeding with the smell of putrefaction.
  • Dark and perforated gills.
  • Weakening of the colony or even depopulation.

How to use:
  • Remove a larva or pupa with suspicious symptoms.
  • Place the larva in the bottle containing the buffer solution.
  • Shake the vial for 20 seconds to disperse the larvae.
  • With the pipette, withdraw some of the liquid from the vial.
  • Gently place 3 drops of the sample into the well of the test plate. After 3 minutes, observe the result.
